Lazy, Soft and Slow re-issue
The first time on vinyl for Guy’s solo album originally released in 1998 on Setanta records and produced by The Cocteau Twins Robin Guthrie.
It’s released on the 24th January 2025 on vinyl specialist Optic Nerve Recordings.
The album will be simultaneously released digitally on Shine On Records with an additional bonus track ‘Slaughterhouse Friend’ and available on all DSPs.
This Limited deluxe coloured vinyl re-issue includes the 2 bonus tracks * originally available on the Japanese CD release of the same year. It features an 8 page booklet with original and unseen photos from the same sessions and full lyrics and gold coloured vinyl.
Guy’s solo debut is a gorgeous and seemingly effortless collection of breezy love songs. Robin Guthrie’s warm production serves these gentle songs wonderfully, and Guy's backing musicians complement him masterfully (Guthrie also played bass on eight songs). Lazy, Soft and Slow should warm your soul for many Sunday mornings to come. This album is magic, and the title says everything about the music: it's Lazy, Soft & Slow.
The critics at the time said this:
Mojo – ‘Velvet Underground inspired elegance – Enchanting - Unfathomable grace’
NME – ‘Its rich melodic luxury is enough to swim in - Dark but elegant allure - Unorthodox deep pile tunes’
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH – ‘Delectable devotional love tunes - a deliciously warm web of sound - A serene and dreamy album’
THE TIMES – ‘ Gorgeous pop songs - A polished gem ‘
THE GUARDIAN - ‘A Little Beauty’
